Header isssues

Well im trying to get the red and black header to auto stretch or center like the rest of the page. I have the page set to percent vs. absolute. The banner is aligned to the left and left with empty space to the right of it.

possibly set the background image of #branding to ‘center’;
and change the formatting of #linky:

example (in the mantra custom css (?):
