• Hello everyone,

It’s just a general question and I hope it’s the right place to ask. I’m using theme 2017 and by default the theme puts a big image in the main page and you have to scroll down. Is there a way to reduce the width of the image, so that you don’t have to scroll down to see the page itself? Actually like pages that are not the main page.

    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Omer

You’re welcome to play with my “Child of 2017” theme. It reduces the main image height from 1200px to 600px. https://github.com/sterndata/sds_2017

However, if you want the header on the front to look like the header on the interior pages, I strongly recommend finding another theme rather than hacking and slashing your way through all the stuff in 2017 that makes it work the way it does.

Hey Steve thanks a lot for your answer and for sharing your theme. I’ve just downloaded it.

But just for improving my knowledge and skills, is it very complicated to customize the height of the main image? I tried a lot to tweak the settings in style.css and it only resulted in weird outcomes.

Maybe I should do it in other themes?

    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Omer

The main image height in my theme is everyplace I put “600”. You could try something smaller and upload images of the correct size.

    Thanks again Steve,

If it’s ok to ask as a general question, when using wordpress should I just look for a theme which resembles most the idea of the website I want to build, and then play with the settings? Because of I just look for a theme, I don’t really have flexibility right?

    Thanks again

Look for something as close to possible to your ideal.
