Hey there, first time posting here and wordpress apprentice,

    Background info:
I have intalled wordpress on my computer in a sub folder, not at the root of www.

I created a home page in regular HTML with an empty content div. I want to connect my design with wordpress and create my own theme.

My header is static and made of images only. There are no H1,2,3,.. tags in there.

    Issue:

I worked in the header.php file attempting to copy and paste my header pic divs in the <div = “header”> section of header.php. I do not want the header to be dynamic with a title and slogan (jsut another wordpress team).

My pictures DO NOT display at all (not even broken image symbol). Only the alt text. WHY? The paths are correct. I suspect it may be related to the 2 lines of dynamic PHP code within the div. I spent over an hour last night trying to figure this out?

Can someone help me out of my madness?

    Thanks!

My custom theme is well on its way and I’m excited but…

I still do not understand why wordpress will not take images unless they are css background images.

I drop the files in my custom theme’s images folder and my home page file for instance will NOT display the picture. It only give me the alt text.

It will work if I insert the pages through the dashboard but not if I insert the code in the php pages. I want to code a custom home page myself. I do not want to do it from the dashboard. I’m watching a tutorial online and the guy does it so why can’t I!?

Please someone have mercy and explain to me what I am doing wrong…

    ALSO

How come I get the home page file when I log on the site (and refresh) and not when I click the home link. I’m fed a new page than the home.php one then. I believe it is the page.php.
