So I migrate a working WP install to a new server. Unfortunately an admin from the host did it, so I didn’t have much control over file system naming and placement.

None of the images showed up after it was done, all with little placeholders. I can reinsert the images, except for the header image, using 2011 theme. I do get that annoying little handy pop-out telling me about how this cool new feature of WP lets me add a header image from the Media Library. Gee Willikers!

However, when I try that, it doesn’t show up in the header, and when I try again I just propagate more copies of the original in the Library and more blank checkboxes in the Header selection image selection area. And of course right now I can’t get into the server for a while because of a host/client issue, so no direct DB edits.

Any suggestions on how to defeat this wonderful new feature of the improved Media handling and actually have a header image? Given that I have only a WP login to work from?

Resolution, in case someone else needs to do the same thing: download the image and let the Header Selector upload it as new. I still have one ghost checkbox in the Header selection panel, but the main thing is the header image now shows up.
