Header image isn't displayed in IE8

    I’m using a catch-box-child, have inserted <meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatibl… in header.php but still can’t see the header under IE 8. The site is well displayed in Chrome and IE 10.
    Also it seems to me that the <meta… insertion had slowed down the appearance of the share icons under Chrome. Could that be?

    What do you recommend? How to solve the header issue under IE 8 (I understand that IE 9 could also present such a problem)
