header image as a variable not a file

I’d like to be able to change the header image dependent on a reference in the main page. This way whatever the topic being discussed i.e. whatever the body content is it can contain something to call the the image in the header….

Can it be a variable and if so forgive my ignorance but what code would I need to call it from the “body”
