I use a child theme of Inspiro and I use Polylang to make my site multilingual. It has worked perfectly until recently when I updated WP, Inspiro and Polylang in one go (big mistake, I know).

Now the header description wont translate and I can’t even find it among Polylangs string translations, it’s like the entire thing got disconnected from everything else for some reason.

Does anyone have any idea what might have gone wrong and how to fix it?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @dabardz

Could you please update your Inspiro theme to the latest version – v 1.6.3?

We’ve just made some changes, and now you will be able to translate the text you add in the Customizer using plugins like Polylang or WPML.

In the String Translations page, you will find a new “inspiro” category with strings: https://d.pr/i/j8oEMz

Only the text added in the Customizer > Homepage Media > Content will be translatable: https://d.pr/i/3Z9Obv

I updated to 1.6.3 but sadly it didn’t help.

There is no “inspiro” category in the Polylang String Translations page, and therefore no new strings to translate. Using the plugin “Theme and plugin translation for Polylang” I get the category “TTfP: inspiro” with a lot of inspiro theme strings, but sadly not the header description from Customizer > Homepage Media > Content.

    Any other idea?

@dabardz What if you make some changes to the text added in the Customizer?

Or can you try to translate “blogname” and “blogdescription” strings – https://d.pr/i/5Q6fd8

The WP “blogdescription” and Inspiro “Header Description” are connected in some ways, but disconnected in others. I can’t figure it out. While working in the Customizer they behave as two seperate entities, WP controls site name and site description as seen in the tab while Inspiro controls the header heading and header description as seen front and center on the site.

But when it comes to translation the two descriptions connect somehow. I tried having no WP site description for a cleaner browser tab, but then the option to translate the Inspiro header description disappears. Having both descriptions filled with the same text makes it possible to translate them both in Polylang and then the translation works just fine.

Long story short, I got it working but the solution is really weird.
