Having trouble with themes

  • I completely new to WP. I have chosen a theme (actually, I’ve done this four times just to test whether it was the theme causing the problem), downloaded it, extracted it, uploaded it to my site’s host, and put it in the right directory. But when I go to the Presentation Panel, there is nothing there. Intuitively, I’m guessing I am missing something small, the kind of thing experience reveals. I’m getting pretty frustrated…someone please help!

  • When you say “put it in the right directory”, to be sure, which directory are you uploading to?

    sometimes when you download a theme and unzip it, you’ll find that the real theme folder is buried inside another folder… for example:

    themename -> themename -> theme contents

    it’s that second folder that needs uploading.

    i know it’s silly, and somewhat weird, but check to make sure that you’re not uploading the first folder, and make sure you’re uploading to:

    wp-content/themes/
