We are having trouble with… ‘Connecting back to this site’
wp_remote_post() test back to this server failed! Response was: cURL error 6: Could not resolve host:

I believe this issue is also preventing scans from running.

Hi @rdrup, thanks for getting in touch with us!

Usually, this type of error is caused by a blocked IP, CDN, or the host cannot connect back to the server.

If you go to Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics > Connectivity, what does it say for “Connecting back to this site”? You can obtain your server IP from this screen if you do not know it.

You may need to whitelist the server’s own IP address (that you just obtained) by visiting Wordfence > All Options > Advanced Firewall Options > Whitelisted IP addresses that bypass all rules for it to complete the connection.

In order to start a scan, Wordfence uses the same method as WordPress to run scheduled jobs. The fact that the host can’t connect to itself will be preventing you from running scans.

If whitelisting doesn’t work, you may need to reach out to your hosting provider so they can allow the server your site is on to connect to itself?

    Thanks,

    Peter.

Thanks Peter, it turned out to be an issue with cloudflare which I disabled and re-enabled and all working fine now. Thank you for your help, much appreciated.
