    Hi,
    Please help!

I’m currently having to approve every comment made on my blog. Ideally, I’d like to only moderate the first comment made by each person.

On the Options > Discussion page, I have the following settings ticked:

    Usual settings for an article:
X – Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.)
X – Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks.)
X – Allow people to post comments on the article

    E-mail me whenever:
    X – Anyone posts a comment
X – A comment is held for moderation

    Before a comment appears:
X – Comment author must fill out name and e-mail
X – Comment author must have a previously approved comment

The only one left UNticked is:
    Before a comment appears:
O – An administrator must always approve the comment

What am I doing wrong? I don’t have any plugins installed.

    Thanks!

  • No plugins, No changes in WP core files? Hmm, what’s in your comment moderation keyword list?

I’m a bit late following this up… but I forgot to post the solution! Should anyone have the same problem though…

On the Discussion page, in the section that says:
“Hold a comment in the queue if it contains [X] or more links. (A common characteristic of comment spam is a large number of hyperlinks.)”

I’d stupidly put “0”, so every comment was having to be moderated. Doh!
