Having issues with centering and hiding page and post titles

Hi
I want to centralize basically everything and I have succeeded in almost everything except the actual page titles. I want to be able to hide the titles at times with option to center them. I have found several similar threads here and poeople often write to add this code to their custome CSS and I have tried like 4-5 different texts to centralize everything but none of them work. I have also tried putting them in different ways as perhaps I am putting it in the wrong place (style.css vs custom css vs theme css etc).

Adding “aligncenter” to an image worked great but for the titles then no go.
