Having a problem with HEADER – and failing to submit to iTunes.

    I have a podcast that used to show up in iTunes, a while back. And I just realized it’s no longer showing.

    iTunes support told me it’s a problem with the HEADER.

    The error I’m getting is: Status: HTTP/1.1 405 Method Not Allowed

    For example, if you look at:
    https://www.thisweekwithkate.com/category/current-shows/feed/

    When I test it in: https://web-sniffer.net/ it displays the HTTP Response Header: “Status: HTTP/1.1 405 Method Not Allowed”

    iTunes is saying that’s the problem.

    I’m not sure if this is due to a setting I have in the Blubrry Powerpress plugin or what. But I’m just trying to figure out why I’m having this issue and whether it’s something on my server, my WordPress installation or the Powerpress plugin settings.

    Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong at this point? As I mentioned before, it “WAS” working fine a while back. But not now.

    Any advice is appreciated.

    PowerPress does not do any sort of blocking of requests.

    I just did a test using https://www.hurl.it both a GET and a HEAD and I am not seeing the issue. I am guessing you figured it out?

    If your web hosting or server administrator is over zealous with security, it is possible that they implemented something such as mod security that is blocking HEAD requests. The URL to your iTunes image as well as to your media files also must support HEAD requests.

    there is a misconception among some server admins that blocking HEAD requests blocks malicious bots. That is far from the truth.
