• Hello forum.

I am trying to install Version 4.6.1 for the first time.

I was following the readme file

    1. Unzip the package in an empty directory and upload everything.
2.Open wp-admin/install.php in your browser. It will take you through the process to set up a wp-config.php file with your database connection details.
1.If for some reason this doesn’t work, don’t worry. It doesn’t work on all web hosts. Open up wp-config-sample.php with a text editor like WordPad or similar and fill in your database connection details.
2.Save the file as wp-config.php and upload it.
    3.Open wp-admin/install.php in your browser.

But when I did this, I got:

    HTTP 500 error

How do I troubleshoot and solve this problem?

  • Hi,

Which web host are you using? 99% of the web host comes with a WordPress installer, so you can use it to install WordPress.

    Let me know. ??

I had to ask the web hosting company about this and they seemed to fix the problem and I was able to install wordpress. Now I have another problem. After I log on, I see the directory of the admin area. Please advise.

Should I delete everything and start over?

OK, so, if you don’t want to look at the short video, I will explain. After I log on as the administrator, I see the directory of the admin folder.

    Hi,

Sorry, got busy so couldn’t reply. You should contact your hosting provider about this as it’s not an issue with WordPress but your install and your hosting will be the best place to get help about it. It could be an issue due to wrong settings, so contact your hosting and see what happens. If it doesn’t help then reply and we will try our best to help you. ??
