• Hi there,

    Hoping someone can help.
I am setting up 2 different wordpress powered blogs but I want a landing page (index.html) first. If I am installing wordpress on 1 domain which will hold the index.html file – do I have to install wordpress into a separate directory or can it be in the same directory.

Will the site default to index.html or to the wordpress index file?

    Thanks

  • I would install WP to subdomain/directory

having an index.html and WP index.php in same directory can cause issues

Can I have two different directories with wordpress installed on the same domain?

and would you recommend two separate databases for each?

You can have as many directories(folders) as you want with WP installed
    domain.com/blog
    domain.com/shop
    etc……

    I run 6 that way

I would recommend separate databases if you have the option…

You can do many installs in one DB (using different prefixes), but if something goes wrong…hacker, etc….. if the DBs are separate, less likely for cross contamination

    Hello

I’m trying to do that, but i’ve a problem.
I have 2 blogs, in a same server. with two differents directories and two diferent databases.
    root/dos <—–wordpress
    root/net <—–wordpress with buddypress

The problem that I try to find answer, is about my .htacces file installed in my root directory.
when i try to acces to any /net file, i go to /dos error page.

Perhaps RVoodoo can explain how did you do that !

    All the best !
