Ok I’ve just had a very very disturbing event happen. I’m in the middle of developing a site for a client (exticie.com.au) and I had a fair amount of content set up, mainly pages and one post. Everything was fine 2 days ago but tonight it seems like the whole site has crashed or something:

    – The database content has disappeared, at least its front-end presentation of it (home page text is hard coded into template)
    – The two admin users can’t log in at all thus I have no access to the back end of wordpress what-so-ever

I haven’t looked into the database itself yet. Frankly I don’t know what to look for other than to see if the content is in there somewhere.

Wtf happened? I’m going to call the hosting company tomorrow to see if they might have some insight into it. I’m very unnerved about it all atm. Has anyone got any ideas or had something similar? Pretty major bug/event to happen… all content is gone!

  • can see your login page ok but slow site – slow host.

Webcity is the host. I’m not sure I like them any more. They are fast in Australia but not sure overseas. That aside something very weird is going on because as you say the site is extremely slow. Like the plugin/etc panels on the dashboard take forever to load.

What’s stranger is that the content has reappeared overnight. I can log in now. I still have no idea what has happened but I’m going to assume that it’s a hosting issue for the moment.

Ok Spoke with host and I now believe that it’s all on their end. All I can do is wait and see.

So if anyone ever has similar symptoms I hope this helps: contact host and see if they are having issues with their servers.
