• Hi guys

hope you can help / advise ??

is there a way of having 2 Administrators but only the very first admin (1) gets access to Dashboard!?

is there a way of hiding the dashboard ability to admin nr 2??! so he cannot access it !?

    Reason:

‘cos a theme I am using, unless the person is an admin, then he wont have full access to the theme features (addding limitles cars/feature cars etc)

So i am thinking to add him as Admin but at same time not to have him access to the dashboard.

Why!? ‘cos in dashboard u can make things work or eventually f*** it all up.

so yeh, if u can give some advise , i would appreciate

    thanks

  • Nope, that’s not possible out of the box.

It is possible that there’s a way to redirect one user away from the admin area, but you’d need to dig into the source code and figure that one out for yourself as it’s really not a common request. On top of that, if they are locked out pf the admin, how would they get to the admin to add in new listings, etc?

Just as a side-thought here, is it possible to re-work the theme that you’re using to set the permissions lower for the actions that you’re talking about? That way you can set them up as an author or editor and they’ll be able to do what you need, but not do anything too “bad”. If it was me, I’d be looking at that option first.

    Ahhh ??
    i see what you mean.

regards the theme, only if i set up the user as admin then he has unlimited features otherwise, he is restricted.

now, not sure HOW to add admin capabilities to a profile e.g PREMIUM CAR DEALER, but hidding admin toolbar !?

    What theme/plugin are you using?

    Cat.

Is not a plugin, but a theme.
the theme is commercial / bought it at https://themeforest.net/

and before you say it , no the seller wont do customize it for me ??
so yeh, need to find a solution

There’s not much that we can offer. No one here has access to the themes code (unless they’ve purchased it themselves), and that makes it almost impossible to know how they’ve done it in that particular theme.

As a guess, have a look for calls to add_menu_page() and add_submenu_page() as they’ll have permissions levels set and that could be where to change them.

And just remember that if you ever update the theme that the changes will be lost so you’ll need to keep track of what you’ve done.

Have you tried editing user and user_meta tables through the phpMyAdmin?

    Prateek

i had same idea last night ??
and i deleted one user by mistake and messed it all up now lol will have to wait for hosting company to restore my website .

yeh, will try it again but not sure what exactly to change in user and meta ?!

    cheers
