From bad to good…

The developer, Devon Walker, and I duked it out over some issues with this plugin and in the end, users of WordPress are the winners.
Plugin says exactly what it does in a clear and concise manner.

You’re leaving a 1 star review because you don’t agree with the way we market our plugin? I can’t say I agree with that… Perhaps you could have left more constructive feedback by creating a support topic with your suggestion?
We market the Premium version of the plugin with a video because we need to sell licenses to stay in business, provide support, and future updates. Without marketing the Pro version, we won’t sell many licenses and everything else suffers. I hope you can understand creating a viable plugin development business.
I also don’t appreciate how you use the word “deceitful” to describe how we market the Pro version. There’s nothing deceitful about it. Users can try the free version and make the decision whether to upgrade or not themselves.
Please read section 5 of the plugin guidelines to see how you are in violation. I already emailed the plugin team, but am doubtful if any action will be taken.
You have a sales video for a different product
There is no clear differentiation of features for free to paid
Premium version is promoted in an annoying wayThere are many plugin developers that promote their premium plugin in accordance with the guidelines and in a clear straight forward way. You sir do not.
I’m all for you being able to sell your paid version, but you have to do it in a way that is in alignment with the guidelines.
The only thing I see from there that we could possibly be in violation of is the “Premium version is promoted in an annoying way” – which is very subjective. Everything else we are in compliance of clearly.
You’re the first person to raise the alarm… and in an annoying way too (ironically). You could have said “Hey guys I think you should update your plugin readme…” Despite this, I do agree with you that we should revise the readme file. However, I don’t agree with the way you brought up this issue (1 star review) or the tone you use.
I wrote a review that is accurate wether you like it or not. I watched a video that you posted which had no indication that it was a video for a completely different feature set. This misled me, and not just me, I installed it on a site. This was a waste of my time because tge description is misleading. Go take a look at other developers that have the same model but make things perfectly clear. Like Updrafts, iThemes security, and many more. I paid for them all gladly.
I am am actually quite surprised in your personal attack if me for stating this fact. And I am not the only one to state this as you claim.
Hey I’m not trying to pick a fight here.
If your plugin description would have been about this plugin and not a sales page for a separate paid plugin, which I believe to be outside of section 5, I would have gone to your site and purchased the plugin. I wrote a review based on the info you guys put here. I make no apologies for that.
I’m not attacking you at all. I’m just saying there are better channels for raising issues like the one you have here than 1 star reviews. Of course, you’re welcome to use the www.remarpro.com review system however you like.
I have updated the plugin’s readme to clear up the differences between free and pro. As well, the plugin no longer leads with promotion about the Premium version. Above the video there is also text that states “The following video displays functionality from the Pro version of the plugin:”
Hopefully this clears up the features between the two versions of the plugin for future users. I would appreciate if you would reconsider your review based on the functionality of the plugin and the fact that we responded to your issue with immediate action. If you have anymore issues or questions please consider opening a support topic where we’ll be more than happy to help you.
My review is revised.
Not trying to hate on you or your business, quite the opposite in fact if you would just look me up. I have over 5k subscribers to my youtube channel and close to the same on my email list. All highly responsive WordPress users that buy stuff that I recommend. But I have their back and that is why they trust me, I only suggest good stuff that works and is developed by people I want to support.
I appreciate you reconsidering your review. I just checked out your website and watched a few of your videos and am impressed by the quality of your reviews. It looks like you’re providing a good service to the community.
