Great Theme

This theme is free with many features, it has a slider, parallax featured images, callouts with tons of icon options, widget areas, sidebars, different colors and on top of that, a professional, fully designed responsive template. It’s taken hundreds of hours to create this theme, between design, development and documentation. It is fully ready to help users deploy a full site quickly, and for free!

There’s a pro version, and naturally the Pro version has more features. There’s nothing locked up with the free version, you can download, customize, or edit the code freely. The pro version is only there for users who want extra features that are not part of the free version.

Right. I appreciate your work. Maybe that’s just how the wordpress community operates these days. Locked down probably wasn’t the right word but it’s just frustrating when you think you are going to be able to download a free wp theme and there are things like limits on sliders, limits on what is available. I have probably downloaded 6 free themes trying to get one to work. In the past 4-5 years I have only paid for themes and haven’t tried to download any from wp and will probably go back to that. I have spent hundreds of dollars on professional themes and have no problem paying for themes.

Hi Smartcat, you are right in that your theme is better than most and offers more than most of the free themes that have an upgrade. I tried to increase the stars but couldn’t and change my original review. Can you let me know if there is a way to do that?

I understand the frustration, keep in mind that these free themes are fully open-source, you have access to the code, and the php is fairly simple, and can be customized to do more. Another limitation is actually out of the developer’s hands, for example, Custom Post Types are not allowed in free themes ( as per the community guidelines ), it means, things like FAQs, Team Members, Gallery etc.. are not allowed in the free version. Another thing is, plugins are there, so if the theme is missing a feature you really want, you can leverage plugins do it for you perhaps.

Hoping you change your 1 star rating, as reviews like this hurt the theme, and can be discouraging to the developers that spend their time giving the community a free & open source product. Developers are spending a lot of time making and supporting these free themes, and its totally fine to make a pro version with a few extra features for a small fee. You will notice that most, if not all themes have a free and a paid option. I myself as a user and a developer, love the ability to get more out of a theme for a bit of money.
