Hate Gutenberg

  • Hi. I really like the inline widget for the classic editor. I hate Gutenberg like most of WP users & developpers. Even WP create a plugin for classic editor. So it would be cool if you add the old version for non-Gutenberg users.

    Also there was a “Generic – Note” part. I used it for translated quotes. That’s all. I wait a new update. Cheers.

  • Same. But the author of this plugin has said, in layman’s terms, that he doesn’t care. As it is his volunteer time, he can do what he wants.

    I would gladly pay a shareware fee for this plugin if it continued to support the Classic Editor. As WordPress is continuing to support Classic until 2022 or longer, it seems premature to dump Classic right now.

    I won’t update to 5.1.0 and am looking for alternatives. I am not convinced that Gutenberg has the UX to survive. Gutenberg is only fit for homemade blogs. It doesn’t work for business websites. The bulk of WordPress users are professionals. The people who can’t handle hosting their own site can buy a domain name on WordPress.com and get Gutenberg in all of its dumbed-down glory. Not sure why they’re forcing this awful UX on the business CMS side.

    I think losing ABT and having to use Gutenberg (unless I put in the WordPress Classic Editor plugin) are enough to convince me that WordPress is no longer appropriate for building a site. I would consider paying for ABT as shareware if I thought it would be around and supported for a long time.

    EDIT: My references are exported from JabRef in proper format. So I will copy-and-paste those from a working file into my post as a last step. I will create the separate working file as I manually type the in-text citations into the post. That way I can still use the Classic Editor without being concerned about plugins that may disappear.
