  • I am having a similar problem. It actually started a few weeks ago (before 3.2). The first quote appears, but never fades or rotates.

Hoping that the plugin author(s) monitor this forum? If you do … please … any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Mine cycles through all quotes then shows a blank area.

    Hello,

We’re having the same trouble as Brandsprout – no fading or rotating. Any ideas on how to fix it? Such a great plugin and we really want it to work!

    Thanks,

Update — I found the author’s website and posted a question in the forums there with a link back here … with any luck we’ll hear something soon. Was anyone able to get a solution in the meantime?

    Cheers, Chris

    Hi Chris,

I managed to find the author’s site too and scrolled through some of his old answers. One person was having the same trouble as us (not fading or rotating,) and he said it was to do with the site either using an old version of Jquery, or a plugin forcing it to use an old version instead of the up-to-date edition that Flexi Quote Rotator needs. Have a look here:
    https://sww.co.nz/wordpress-plugins/flexi-quote-rotator/

The question comes from a guy called Edward and he asked it in May this year.

Having read this, I worried about Jquery for a while then took the easier route of deactivating all our plugins and seeing if that made a difference, which it did. One we recently installed was causing the problem, so we’ve deactivated it and our quotes are now showing up perfectly.

    Hope this helps!

    All best wishes,

    Clare

Thanks Clare for your helpful response. The vast majority of issues with flexi quote rotator are caused by other plugins or themes. So first thing to do is to disable all plugins and check again. If it then works, enable your plugins one by one to find the culprit. If it is not the plugins, check the theme by switching temporarily to default theme and check if quote rotator works.

The most common way that other plugins and themes break flexi quote rotator is by forcing a specific version of jquery. FQR requires jquery 1.4 or higher which comes with all recent versions of WP.

@acurran et al, I’ve deactivated the only other plugin that I’ve installed and I’m running Thesis 1.8.2 which I would be very surprised to hear is causing the issue.

I tried installing Google libraries plugin which didn’t resolve the issue of the quotes following the first quote not displaying on the page. Seems to be an opacity issue.

I tried adding the quoteRotater to the site by adding <?php echo quoteRotator(); ?> to my custom_footer() in my custom functions file and also using the [quoteRotator]

The quoteRotator is in the footer of the page: https://patrickmckowen.com/vbs/

    Thanks!

FYI, I’ve replaced the Flexi Quote Rotator with a different plugin on the page I referenced above.

Hi Patrick — thanks for the update. Curious what you moved to? I still like Flexi Quote Rotator but trying to identify options if I can’t get this sorted out quickly. Thanks, Chris

@chris_aitken, I installed Quotes Collection plugin. The admin interface is fine and has some okay design functionality built in.

The only thing I don’t like about it is lack of built in fade-in/fade-out arguments. I’m going to try to edit the function and see if it will support that effect.
