Has Potential but Falls Short
-
I was excited to see this plugin and was looking forward to using it. However, after activating it I noticed a few things that could be problematic.
The plugin does style the login page nicely until you find out that the text in the input fields cannot changed from the plugin default color of white. So, if you choose a background, for the text input fields, that doesn’t contrast well with white, when someone enters their information and password they can’t see anything has been written. Not a good thing. People like to be able to see that they have typed something into an input field.
I noticed that the plugin has a big green “Upgrade to Pro Version” so clicking on that I thought “Oh, maybe the missing styling is available in the Pro Version”. Well the link does go to the developer’s site but there is no opportunity to upgrade to a pro version. So, the plugin falls short of actually doing all that is needed for easily customizing the login page.
I brought this up in the support area but, of course, this developer doesn’t respond to support topics.
If you deactivate the plugin for any reason, you had better have a backup of the settings you have made for this plugin because as soon as you activate it again, the hardcoded defaults override the settings you had previous to deactivating.
That is problematic especially if there should be a need to troubleshoot any issue using the practice recommended by so many developers (deactivate plugins and return to default WP theme). If you do that with this plugin, you WILL lose your settings upon re-activating this plugin.
There is still one more issue with this plugin. Actually not the plugin but the practice of the developer. I notice that the plugin is being updated but the version number is not updated. So, if you have this plugin installed on your site, you will NOT receive notices of it needing to be updated on your site. There is no changelog maintained so you don’t know what changes are being made.
Overall, I cannot recommend this plugin due to what I have observed.
