Has anybody got a plugin to work sending email through Google Apps SMTP?

Hi,

I really need to be using my Google Apps SMTP server for outgoing mail on my site and it’s a user heavy site, so this is often.

The problem is that currently it takes 1-2 hours for an email to send/be received which causes non-stop support enquiries about ‘I’ve registered but haven’t received my password yet’ and generally doesn’t look good.

I’ve tried three SMTP plugins – WP SMTP, Configure SMTP and Cimy Swift all with the settings which Google Apps provides;

smtp.gmail.com
587
TSL
SMTP Authenticated

However they are all returning the error ‘cannot connect to server – 111’

These settings work in outlook to send Google Apps emails, so what’s the problem with WordPress?

I would be great if anybody has set this up on their site and they can share the secret??? ??
