This might take a bit to explain.

I use updraft plus on all three of my wordpress blogs (2 non password protected, and 1 that is – which is: https://www.sylumclan.com/SylumManor/wikiblog/ but its password protected) I’ve never had problems with scheduled or manual backups for any of the blogs until recently.

As of end of August (my last successful back up was Aug 7th) I couldn’t get updraft to work. I figured it was a new update so just let it go until another update and still didn’t work. No matter what size limit I put on the zips it stalled half way through whether it was 50, 100 or even 400 – still stalled.

As it was a password protected site I knew it was having a hard time communicating to wordpress so I had 207 scheduled tasks not concluded – I worked with my hosting company and set up a cron job and which worked, and that particular problem is cleared.

Yet if I manual update with updraft it’s still stalling half way through. The logs do not show why it’s lagging or stalling it just shows the last thing it was doing. It gets to a point it will say 28 seconds to next segment, then go up to almost past 100, then come back down to 8, then keep rising until hours go by and it does nothing.

I’ve never had a problem like this in the two years I’ve been using Updraft on this blog (despite it being password protected). This is a heavy information blog and I need it backed up.

What else do I need to do?

    Hi,

Please could you send us a copy of the latest backup log that stalls?
The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Pastebin, and post the link here.

    Sorry for the delay.

Quick update: I had set up a scheduled back up for daily and that seems to be working. I tried to do manual and still stalls.

Here is the link to the log from the failed manual backup:https://pastebin.com/HFSmRp6L

    Thanks.

    Hi,

    Apologies for the delay.

Please could you send us a copy of the backup log for the last scheduled backup?

The manual backup log appears to show the backup running correctly, but not resuming after it has been timed out.

How often is the cron job called on the site to trigger the scheduler?

    Hello!

It’s been a crazy week for all of us ??

Here’s the log for the scheduled backup: https://pastebin.com/SqCdutuL

I have the cron job going every hour.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

From the log, it appears that the scheduled backup completes in one resumption, while the manual backup requires a resumption (this can be due to the availability of resources).

The cron job being scheduled every hour is preventing the backup from resuming. The resumption has to be triggered by the scheduler, which runs every 5 minutes with the standard WordPress cron.

I turned the cron job to daily, and the ‘scheduler’ didn’t work nor the ‘manual’ as there was needed ‘jobs’ done.

So I put it back to daily – scheduler works again. And I’ll leave it at that as I back up the sight daily.

    Thanks.
