• Hi
I am working on a simple site for a friend who is starting a small company offering guided motorcycle tours in Asia.
I would like 4 different slide shows. 1 for each of the 3 destinations offered showing the pictures relevant to a destination and one slider on the front page, showing a selection of pictures from the other 3 sliders (or even showing all the pictures)
As far as I can see, I am unable to have the same image in 2 different sliders unless I re-upload the media which I’d like to avoid.
    Any ideas?

  • I don’t think you can do this, without some fairly complex programming.

Any particular reason to avoid re-uploading? If the pictures are a reasonably small size to be downloaded when browsing, then they won’t take up much space on the server.

    I know it’s not an elegant solution, but it’s a pragmatic one…

I guess I’ll have to figure something like that out.
I am not worried about storage space, only about file management as the wordpress media library isn’t exactly great for managing large amounts of pictures. I am working on a site right now that will feature a rather diverse slideshow and the client wants to be able to shuffle some pictures around between the sliders once in a while.. bad luck I guess ??
This would really be a nice future function in the theme – that is, being able to assign a picture to several sliders.

On a side note, whats a sensible max size per slider picture (doing a travel site, so the scenery shots have to retain some quality)

Best bet is probably a different slider. You can unhook Customizr’s and use another.

    Customizr’s slides should be 1170×500.

@electric Feet, I was unclear, by sensible max size, I meant filesize ??

    Ah! ??

Answer is: “as small as you can possibly make it” ??

I splashed out on JPEGmini to reduce mine. It works well and reduces file sizes greatly, but imperceptibly.

atm, my slider images are between 100 and 200kb, I guess I can try to sqeeze them more
