Hi – I had my site domain mapped via wp.com. i then uploaded wp.org files. I hadn’t done much to the site so I was fine with setting up anew. I just uploaded a new theme via filezilla but that is not showing and the site is still directing to wp.com.
    site is https://bgirlguide.com
i went to wp.com and took the domain mapping off.
    thank you.

my second question is do I have to ftp the theme info via filezilla or just upload within the dashboard (which is what I just did)?

    Thanks.

I just uploaded a new theme via filezilla but that is not showing and the site is still directing to wp.com.

Where did you upload the theme it needs to be in wp-content/themes folder and did you activate with in admin panel

a ha! no I just put it in htdocs (I’m new at this). Can I reupload into the right folder or does it need to be deleted and then reinstalled?

    thanks for your help.

you can move it to the correct location.

I can move it via the backbone of the site in the ftp?

Secondly, I’m not sure why the domain mapping isn’t off – I switched the settings via wp.com and that should not still be in effect. Those settings are still showing up and that theme is registered in the Dashboard of the wp.org site.

    Thank you.

When I go on your url I see the default twenty eleven theme so your domain name is pointing to your host.

I realized it’s a problem on wp.com/domain mapping end so I wrote in to WP.com support and also the help forums. I don’t know how to shut it off. You can ‘delete’ the direct URL as an option on the wp.com dashboard — the wp.com address and URL are the two options; it was originally pointing to bgirlguide.com; now it’s pointing to the wp.com site which I thought would remedy it but did not. The domain mapping is still in effect. Someone at WP.com said not to delete the direct url as an option. I’m not certain that advice is correct.

I did install another theme tho’ via the wp.org dashboard although the theme files are also residing in htdocs – I will try to move them.

    Thanks for the help.

I basically have two separate issues here. But I would like to get the domain mapping off so I can work on the ‘real’ site.

In settings General you should have your urls as bgirlguide.com and if you have any data at wordpress.com you will to export the data as xml file and import on your own host wordpress setup
