• I manage quite a few WordPress sites and just installed a plugin called Wordfence for security scanning. I cannot believe all of the failed attempts at admin login. Here are some examples

Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation attempted a failed login using an invalid username “admin”.
    IP: 188.143.233.30 [block]

Bicske, Hungary attempted a failed login as “admin”.
    IP: 94.125.180.90 [block]
    Hostname: arcadiadesign.hu

They’re being automatically blocked but can this really be happening. I’m talking about 20 WordPress sites…and yes, everything is up to date on all sites.

    Thanks for any ideas.

Sure. It doesn’t take much for people to setup a script and probe for default user IDs and weak passwords. That sort of probing happens all the time. It’s automated and they’re not paying attention to your site as much as hoping they can get into any WordPress installation.
