    About a month ago our site was hacked and db was wiped.

    After changing user names and passwords and upgrading security to wordfence, i’ve been able to set the lockout after 4 incorrect passwords. The hacker is trying to get in daily from different ips.

    I’m currently locked out from the site and cant get back in.

    I’ve requested for an unlock email (multiple times) but haven’t received one in over a week.

    Any help?!

  • Hi @clairemappit,

    To regain access to your site, you can login to your website via FTP and rename the folder:

    /wp-content/plugins/wordfence/ -> /wp-content/plugins/wordfence-old/

    Thanks @wfdave worked!

    Do you know a way to prevent someone repeatedly trying to hack in?

    Thanks,

    Hey @clairemappit,

    My apologies for the delayed response here.

    Unfortunately, there’s only so much we can do to prevent an attack, it’s more about making sure they aren’t successful. You should always use strong passwords and two-factor.Those coupled with Wordfence’s features will help to secure the site. But we (nor anyone else) can guarantee against a compromise.

    Please let us know if anything else comes up.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald
