• Hello,

I got very suspicious about a freelance developer whom I hired to help me with my site (https://beyond-freedom.com). He was doing quite a few things which didn’t ask him to do and wouldn’t accept any remuneration for his work. He’s apparently quite an expert but said he just appreciated the opportunity to learn. Among other things, I noted a lot of subscribers in my site about whom I didn’t notice before. I discontinued his service and deleted all those subscribers but couldn’t delete one. Whenever I select the checkbox against that name, automatically the checkbox next next to mine as Administrator gets checked. The suspicious subscriber isn’t listed as Administrator or Subscriber but as “Role.” How can I get rid of that entry?

    Thank you,

  • You’ll probably need to delete that entry from the database.

But it sounds like he also possibly edited WP core files. I would do a clean install of WordPress, your theme, and any plugins you are using.

Thanks a lot kjodle, for your suggestion. My site was hacked before, and I strongly suspect this was a mole. I’d like to re-install everything, as you’ve suggested. I’m not technically adept at doing this and may need to hire someone to do the work for me. But then I’m leery about advertising the stint on WP Jobs site. That’s where I got the mole. Would you have any idea about where I can get someone dependable to do it?

    Thanks again,
