  • It’s hard to guess because there are thousand of ways to infect a site. In this case considering a WordPress based site (and assuming it is a fresh installation) then the most probable entry point is a plugin or theme with a vulnerability.

    You can check if there is a consistent payload in the code scanning your site using Sucuri SiteCheck. I will also recommend you to disable all the themes and plugins you have installed so far, keep your site as clean as you can until you find the root of the infection.

    Thanks, Yorman! I ran the Sucuri check, and it didn’t find anything.

    I’ll now start checking. First I’ll see if .htaccess has been tampered with. Then I’ll disable all plugins and see what that does.
