Hacked Worn Out WordPress User in Need of Advice
-
I was hacked two weeks ago. I drained almost all content from my site and eliminated eight webpages before I got rid of the visible (to me) sleaze. I changed WordPress passwords. (I had previously updated to the latest version.) I didn’t understand about changing my secret keys. I thoroughly checked my Mac system using Sophos & TechTool Pro to make certain there was nothing suspicious left behind.
Sucuri certainly helped. They pointed back to a specific IP address that represent none of my devices. The same IP made at least 25 unsuccessful attempts to log back into my remaining site.
Is there any way an artist with limited means can insure the WordPress files left are free of malware and other malicious content? Heck, I’ve never even liked my WordPress site & after years couldn’t obtain basic functionality like linking images to websites. I do have some backups, but the updated templates screw up most of the formatting I liked. I’m asking myself, “Why bother with WordPress now?”
Thank you for your time.
