• I work part-time as a designer for the backend of three websites and they had this plugin the hosting company informed me. They pinpointed the issue of me not being able to login via wp-admin portal to this plugin. Its hack more than likely deleted the backups I had used with a backup plugin.

The security site the hosting company works with has a price of 200 bucks per site. That is 600 dollars to fix the issues by this plugin. And the developers are still selling a pro version of this plugin and not offering any help but to “send an email to the team”

UPDATE: I had much more pleasant call with a different agent at file manager so I’ll up this to three stars.

  • Are you also on 6.9? And did your sites auto update to 6.9 like ours did?

Well, here’s the funny part!! I had to create those sites because they were gonna go public soon and we needed a way to keep track of people who wanted to apply for jobs. I hadn’t enabled autoupdates. I think I just updated and then left em alone because I thought having an out of date plugin was a security risk. How ironic.

@filemanagersupport you’re absolutely lying because that is the exact same email Anjali sent me on four days ago on Oct 1 at 6:53am EST. I responded to it 2 hours later at 8am and didn’t get a response back. The email request is #4936.

Update: I was able to get a google meet call with them and it was some of the worst technical support I had ever received. First off, the audio quality was bad. The two agents I spoke to were speaking way too fast, in all this technical jargon no regular person is going to comprehend. Second, they kept repeating the same information to me like I was a child. The steps and solutions they kept suggesting didn’t work yet insisted on repeating them. Third, the guy I spoke with had the nerve to yell at me for pointing out the backwards logic of scheduling a call with me the same time his supervisor or whoever who knows cpanel was in another call.
Do NOT use this plugin under any circumstances. I don’t know how the other reviews that said this was the best support they had received are able to write that with a straight face. I’m just going to assume it was file manager themselves giving positive reviews to offset the hundreds of thousands of people who were compromised by their faulty plugin.

    Hi @designistheway,

We are very sorry to hear the experience you had with our support team.

In discussing further with the team you had a call with, they did to the best of their ability assist you through your issue, given you were notably upset and verbally abusive. You were unable to log in to cPanel due to not having your password. Our team worked to resolve this for you and although they made their best attempt to walk you through the process, you were not able to follow.

In order to solve this issue you will need to have your cPanel and FTP login handy, this will make your support call the most productive.

Please note, it violates WordPress policy for us at File Manager to submit our own reviews. Most of the experiences our customers have with support have been positive, and some of them have chosen to share that experience with us though their generous 5 star review.

We thank you for being a customer of our free File Manager plugin.

@filemanagersupport like I said, I was not informed of any information that I needed before the call. All I was asked was my time zone and given some google meet link. Your team hung up on me during my call so of course I’m going to be frustrated. Between the audio quality of the call, your team speaking 100 words per minute in technical jargon no regular person will understand, and your agent yelling at me saying that I’M the one wasting their time and I wasn’t important because I was using a free plugin, I don’t think you did the best work.

Your team had me wander aimlessly in the inmotion hosting panel. They had no idea where I was supposed to go.
