• question here, ive had most of the preferences in ithemes set… all high priorities are done, the only things not done:

-A user with id 1 still exists.Fix it
-Your WordPress Dashboard is available 24/7. Do you really update 24 hours a day? Consider using Away Mode.Fix it
-Your site is performing scheduled database backups but is not backing up files. Consider purchasing or scheduling BackupBuddy to protect your investment.

-You are not blocking any users that are known to be a problem. Consider turning on the Ban Users feature.Fix it
-Your WordPress Salts have not been changed. You should change them now.Fix it
-You are not requiring a secure connection for logins or for the admin area.Fix it
-You should rename the wp-content directory of your site.

somehow, the site was still hacked. i noticed a weird grey border appearing suddenly behind div elements and when using developer i seemed to find some weird code being inserted. when looking in my header.php file, i found this randomly placed:
[Code moderated – Please use PasteBin to share spam]

any thoughts on how that would slip through? im the only person who has access to the servers

  • Security plugins do not work like anti-virus software does on your computer.

For the most part security plugins are an added level of security. But like any type of security you put on your home, just because you have a good lock, doesn’t necessary mean a good burglar can’t pick it…

That said, it’s unlikely your security plugin had anything to do with this, other than being a helpful bystander.

Look around for anything outdated on your site, as well be sure to lock down those passwords in FTP, WordPress dashboard and anything else you can thing of respectively.
