• 5 of my sites have been hacked and I can no longer access them through the wp-admin. When I try to reset the password I get a message saying – ERROR: There is no user registered with that email address.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Do you have access to your databases via phpMyAdmin (or similar)?

I’m working on getting access through my host. Should have it soon.

You’ll want to find the table that stores the user accounts and change the password for your admin user – that field is encrypted.

is there some other hack to prevent this kind of hacking in WP ?

This is a good place to gather information and ideas on the topic:
    Hardening WordPress

In this particular case, one of the most important of those items that may have prevented undergrounD1’s issue, is not to continue using a version of wordpress that has well known, frequently published vulnerabilities.

    “WordPress version: 2.9.2”

It’s best to make sure you update every time a security release is made available.

    Hi,
Thanks for all the help. A lot of this code is over my head, so I ended up getting my Host to delete the information/settings etc. to those sites. I’ve got new passwords and am back in control.
    Thanks again,
    Jim
PS: ClaytonJames, you make a good point about updating the version of WordPress. Thanks!
