I had a recent hack into my website. I have 90% of the minor problems fixed, but I still cannot get my WordPress dashboard to appear for me. I needed to change my login, which worked, and I can now login. But past that, I get a blank white screen.

I have the error log if that would help, but I’m just not sure where this problem is originating from because it wasn’t ME who was fiddling around with it.

If anyone could figure out a way to get my dashboard up and running I’d really appreciate it. My blog looks fine and functions like normal from what I can tell. I just cannot post or edit anything, as I have no control panel to work with. Let me know what more information you need and hopefully we can fix this easily. (No real damage was done to my site thankgoodness, so I’m just hoping this is a small glitch.)

Wow, sorry to hear about what happened. One question…have you tried accessing your Dashboard from more than one browser? If not, try a different browser and see if that works because that has helped a few people in the past.

I tried it with both Firefox and Safari. No change.

I’ve narrowed the problem down to my database. I switched hosting companies and uploaded a fresh install of WordPress. Then I uploaded my old database onto the new server. When I direct my new WordPress installation to this database I get a blank screen.

I have even tried simply importing my ‘posts’ table into a fresh WordPress database (all squeaky clean and fresh) but I just get an error when I try to do that.

Any clue what I should be looking for here? I can’t use my WordPress at all. I thought if I at least switched hosting I’d be able to import my old posts. I don’t want to lose my old data. Please HELP!

I am having the same problem with my website! To my knowledge, no one tried to hack into it — but I did add a plug-in after which this problem started to exist. Very frustrated!

What plugin did you install? Maybe it’s stemming from a buggy plugin… hmm…

It was a mp3 player, don’t know the exact name of the plugin.

cedricbroddie – Delete the plugin folder.

@ipstenu Well before I do that, not sure if I [even know how] to delete my plugin folder — but this is the error message I keep getting:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_multisite() in /services9/webpages/util/c/e/cedricbroddie.site.aplus.net/gospelconnoisseur.com/public/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/tp/tp.php on line 129

The plugin ‘TP’ is looking for MultiSite to be enabled.

If you’re not running WP MultiSite, delete the plugin. Log into your server via FTP and go to wordpress/wp-content/plugins – DELETE the folder tp – Just that easy.

I using FileZilla, but I can seem to log into the server via FTP. I get this error message: Timeout detected! Error: Could not retrieve directory listing

I have the same problem. I haven’t done anything unusual to my blog. I posted a new post two days ago, and it was fine after that. Tonight it’s as Joodle said above. I use Linux so no chance anyone has hacked into it! Really would appreciate any help.
    Many thanks

Me again. My problem resolved. Logged in from a different site as opposed to using my bookmark link and got everything back. Very weird though.

I use the Multisite plugin… But I already took my blog off the server so I just have my backup sql file. Maybe Multisite messed things up. I will see what I can do with what’s left of my old FTP directory.

    What error?

phpMyAdmin simply fails when I try to update a certain portion of my sql (my posts table). This probably makes sense because I don’t really know how sql works and it was just one creative fails out of many.

But when I point my new installation of WordPress to my full sql restore database (the database went up just fine) but when I head to my blog address it just gives me a blank screen. I don’t know where to look for information or error codes or anything. phpMyAdmin seems to accept the database just fine, WordPress just won’t display it for me. I’m so stuck and confused!

What version of WordPress were you running previously? And what version of WordPress have you recently installed?
