h2 tags with links have too much space above. How to fix?

Hi folks

Whenever I link an h2 like this

<a href=""><h2>Example</h2></a>

LOTS of white space appears above (and some below) the text that wasn’t there before. What’s going on and how can I fix this so no extra white space appears?

“Firefall, Horsetail Fall” has a link (and lots of white space above) while “Firefall, Glacier Point” isn’t linked and doesn’t have lots of white space above.

Please help, this is driving me crazy!
