This is a strange one. I cloned my WP site to a subdomain test.mydomain.com. That is where I test out changes to the site. So I tested WP Optimize on the test site and everything worked fine including GZIP. I then install it on the production domain and everything works except GZIP. I get the error, “We successfully added Gzip compression settings into .htaccess file. However, the test file we fetched was not Gzip-compressed.” Both sites are running under the same hosting account from iPower. I even compared the .htaccess files from both sites and they were identical.

If it were a host problem then the test site shouldn’t work. I am stumped. Please help.

  • @kingfish65 Can you please try to turn off and turn on again the Gzip compression button and check if it works?

I had previously done that and went to go try it again and to my surprise it was showing enabled with no error. I even verified the compression was working at https://gtmetrix.com/. Very odd, but I am not going to complain. Thanks for responding to my post. Loving the plugin.
