• Hi all,

I’m thinking of grabbing word fence and keen to try falcon but just wondered before I do should I switch off…

Gzip – I’m using a plug in for gzip
Mod deflate – on my server
Leverage cache – again using a plug in to create this

Wp bruiser – using this is protect comments spam instead of a askimet, but it also has a brute force protection so will it clash with word fence?

I have read that falcon does not compress images / static content which my gzip is doing a good job of so keen not to loose that and step backwards in page load speed

    Thanks

  • Hi Mattw1000,

I say try it and see! It is possible that there would be overlap in functionality which is not ideal, but without more information I cannot know for sure. It is easy to turn caching on and off in the Wordfence settings. Just remember to click the clear cache button while testing. This will help with troubleshooting potential issues.

Ultimately the goal is speed. So if disabling one of the plugins is necessary for Falcon to work correctly, but speed is improved, I think it would still be a positive change overall.

As far as the brute force functionality, there are many settings in Wordfence that you can enable/disable to resolve any overlap. Wordfence plays nice with most plugins, you just want to try and limit any duplicate features.

Hope that helps! Let me know how it goes.

Thanks! I’ll give it a go and shout if it gets hairy!
