I am currently setting up my portfolio website and have done so, with the zeever theme in Gutenberg. since the page is public and used when sending out applications I edited the blank canvas template to say “Site is currently being updated…” And put it as the front page while I did the editing. Now comes the problem. I started out with updating all my pages in the page editor, using the blank canvas template. All the pages are working fine, except the landing page. When I go to the default link: https://www.meerson.dk I get met with the “site is currently being updated” message, even after editing in page editor. I then tried to create a new template, with all my edits for the landing page, no luck, still the same issue when trying to enter the page from the link. I have set the front page to the right page but it is as if it is stuck in the old template.

What is shown when visiting the site

What is suppose to be shown

    The template currently being shown

Here I have the template set to front page, still showing wrong template

    Issue seen from homepage settings

I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong, since my other pages are working just fine and I made them the same way I made the landing page. Is there a setting I am missing, that is locking the previous template as the front page or something?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I found a fix. I had to go through the template editor through the wp dashboard before the template would show

Thank you for sharing the solution you found. There is an issue to enhance the site editing experience here that would avoid (or at least alleviate) the situation you run into.

The proposal is: When you are on a particular page or post and then click “Edit Site” WordPress opens the “Site Editor” not with the generic “Home” but with the specific page/post you came from as the shown sample content (in the Post Content block) and the specific template that this page/post uses is what you edit.
