Been trying to use this plugin with the in development Gutenberg. Doesn’t seem to work currently. Any plans to update to process Gutenberg native galleries? Anyone managed to get it to work? Thanks!

As far as I can tell guttenberg drops support for gallery shortcodes. The gallery is very buggy for now, and hard to edit because it simply generates some HTML and killing support for structured galleries. I like the idea of guttenberg, but at this point it’s not compatible with a lot of plugins that depend on shortcodes. I hope they find a solution and don’t push guttenberg before they addressed this issue. There’s not much changes I can do for now since A LOT is still changing within the gutenberg project, so any modifications I make to the plugin at this point will likely become invalid after a couple of weeks. So short answer: I will not support guttenberg untill it becomes part of core.

Hi Jules, I totally hear that and I appreciate the thoughtful response. I understand not wanting to add support until Gutenberg is more firmed up. We are developing all new sites with Gutenberg so I wanted to check in because this is a rad plugin. Thanks again!

Hi @jules-colle, unfortunately for every developer they pushed the WP5.x update suddenly begin december.

For now, with gutenberg, I cannot find any way to use this plugin with gutenberg active. Only solution I found now, is installing the Classic Editor plugin, to have WP5.x with classic editor again.

If you have any plans to adapt your plugin to the new gutenberg.

Or the other way around: create a block editor for your type of gallery grid, I will help you to advise and test.

    Cheers

@jules-colle maybe you can fork this project to create your type of gallery inside a gutenberg block editor plugin. https://github.com/thatplugincompany/block-gallery

I finally did some testing with Gutenberg. It’s gonna be pretty hard to make the plugin 100% Gutenberg compatible. But I found a very easy work around if you want to keep using the classic gallery and RGG. In the Gutenberg Editor, simply create a Classic block. This block will have all the features you know and love from the classic editor, including the classic gallery.

If you use this block to include your gallery RGG will work as expected.
