• Gutenberg Manager is more complete, not sure why this one has a lot more downloads so far, does not support post types and not as feature-rich.

    Hi ianstudio,

Thanks for the idea, but if you look at the docs you will see that Disable Gutenberg does in fact support post types, as well as the following features:

    • Disable Gutenberg completely (all post types)
    • Disable Gutenberg for any post type
    • Disable Gutenberg for any user role
    • Disable Gutenberg admin notice (nag)
    • Option to hide the plugin menu item

Further, I am currently working on an update to add the following options:

    • Disable Gutenberg per theme template
    • Disable Gutenberg per Post/Page ID
    • Option to hide the Gutenberg menu item

So after the next update, Disable Gutenberg will be super feature rich, and I aim to make it the MOST COMPLETE plugin for customizing user’s experience with Gutenberg.

Also for the sake of anyone else reading, to answer ianstudio’s question: “not sure why this one has a lot more downloads so far”.. it could be because the author has a stellar reputation (read: TRUST), and has been helping the WP community since 2005 (13 years!). I highly value my users and respond quickly to any support requests. Plus, I update my plugins several times each year with bug fixes, new features, and so forth.

I work super hard to help the WP community, and Disable Gutenberg is no exception.

And I just added another set of new features, so users can click to edit “Classic” and add new “Classic” for post types where Gutenberg is not disabled ??

@viablethought Awesome! That’s great to hear, thank you for help to share with the community ?? Also please take a moment to leave a 5-star review if you haven’t already done so. Thank you, Jason!

To further the conversation, DG 1.5 features whitelist options to always enable the Block Editor on specific posts. Also provides optional Block/Classic shortcut links, displayed next to the regular “Edit” link on the Posts screen. Plus several more new options to help make Disable Gutenberg better than ever!

Disable Gutenberg is the best. It’s no use creating another plugin to do this.
Disable Gutenberg is always ahead with 5 stars.

Folks, if you want to review the plugin, don’t “me, too” on it but create your own. Replies don’t count. ??
