    Yes, it is already on current version of gutenberg. If you click the add shortcode block and type in the [do_widget somewidget] and save/preview, it will work. Why don’t you just try it?

    Of course it would be nice if this plugin became unnecessary. There is some talk of being able to add all/any of the widgets in a widget block. At the moment only the categories & posts widgets show up as on option, and it is slightly cumbersome to get to the settings for the widgets.
