Gutenberg blocks do not work when editing a PAGE

  • In transitioning to Gutenberg, I have found that I cannot edit the blocks when editing a PAGE. When I create a block and try to change the options, (eg bold, italic etc), on hover, the toolbar for that block disappears, and all blocks above it become highlighted. I cannot even access the toolbar’s ‘remove block’, and must use my delete key to remove a block.

    Additionally, when I try to use the document tab options in the sidebar, it reverts to the block tab with the message ‘no block selected’ as soon as I move my mouse to the side to select an option.

    I have resorted to editing my pages in code editor with HTML.

    These things do not happen when I am editing POSTS. Everything works perfectly there.

    I have tried changing the ‘VIEW’ options with no change.

    (I also reached out to the theme developer. They did not seem to know about Gutenberg yet, and directed me to this forum.)

    Hello @donnabarr,

    Do you have the Gutenberg plugin installed or do you use the version that is included with WordPress standard distribution? Do you still encounter the same issues after WordPress 5.3 was released?
