    Hi there,

My gutenberg block editor is not active on any of my posts – it’s reverted everything to the classic editor. I have checked my Profile and visual editor is enabled so this isn’t the issue.

I am using Divi and the Divi post editor remains disabled – I tried turning this back on but still no ability to use the gutenberg block editor. I have tried rolling back the Divi update but this had no effect. Tried deactivating a few of my recent plugins and no luck still. I’ve purged the cache and still no change.

Not quite sure how to go here to resolve… Any help appreciated.

  • If you are on WordPress 5+, then the Classic Editor needs to be specifically enabled.
So the goal is to determine where the code is originating from.

First off, check if you are using the latest version of WordPress.
Then check your list of plugins to see if there is a plugin called “Classic Editor”.
If there is, disable the plugin.

Thanks for your response – I’m definitely up to date with WordPress (I’ve even tried reinstalling the latest update). And there definitely isn’t a classic editor plugin.

I’ve now tried deactivating all plugins but no luck there either.

No idea where to turn next :/ appreciate any additional thoughts you have!

Disable all of your plugins and switch to a default (Twenty*) theme.
    Then re-enable one by one.
The code comes from somewhere. It isn’t included in versions 5+

Thank you Carike!! Through this process, I found out it was definitely Divi causing the conflict… Searched through the menus again and under the Divi Theme Options > Builder > Advanced Options there was an option called ‘Enable Classic Builder’ which (for some darn unknown reason) had enabled itself on its own accord.

    Thanks again.

    Really glad you found it!

I’m having the same or a similar problem. My homepage keeps switching back to Classic from Gutenberg and when it happens I lose all of my formatting. I fix it by pasting the code back in, but it keeps happening and I don’t know when or why.

I’m only using Gutenberg and don’t have a Classic Builder or a Classic plugin. The theme is Mesmerize. I look at the site every so often and the pictures have disappeared and when I login and look, the code has switched to Classic. How do I stop the page from changing to Classic?

    Thank you.
