    Is it compatible now?

    I am assuming I can update to WordPress 5.0 and install the classic editor
    and build my site as I am used to.

    Hi,

    Yes we have released new version of pure and simple theme 3.2.0 which support for Gutenberg. You can update to WordPress 5.0
