Guitarists help me out! Can’t upload Guitar Pro files…
-
Hey guys,
First off I read through the Sticky at the top about uploading issues, and tried every one that seemed relevant. Also I searched through every post, and nothing worked.
I’m trying to post some Guitar Pro files (.gp5) on my site. I use the uploader and everything works fine. I’ve uploaded pictures and PDF files with ZERO problems. It links great and I can download the files.
But after I upload a Guitar Pro file… when I click on the link to get the Guitar Pro file, it gives me “this page cannot be found”. This happens for other very small document files as well.
I’ve used FileZilla to manually upload the files into the Uploads folder, and tried to link directly to that (triple checked to make sure it was the right link). STILL doesn’t work. So the entire file is being hosted in the Uploads folder, I can SEE it with the FTP client, yet when I try to link to it… nothing except “this page cannot be displayed”. I tried using that .htaccess file but that messed up my dashboard, and it’s not a plugin issue as I don’t have plugins. No firewall either.
I’m using OSX leopard on a G4 Powerbook with the latest version of WordPress AND Flash as well.
So any ideas on this? I’m thinking about just hosting the guitar pro files with mediafire or something. Many thanks to any other suggestions.
