• Hi all,

I just submitted this to the plugin developers as a bug report, but I’m not sure if it’s an issue with the plugin actually. I am absolutely stumped by GTmetrix and optimizing an image for the native WordPress Text widget. No matter how many times I optimize the .jpg or use different services to do the same even, I keep getting the following message:

Optimize the following images to reduce their size by 87B (2% reduction).
    ? Losslessly compressing https://g4q7g5s2.stackpathcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Donate.jpg

The address there is because my site uses a CDN from Stackpath. The actual URL for the image is: https://www.blindluminations.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Donate.jpg

I know the optimization has taken place because the file size is now 7KB and ReSmush.it says I’ve saved 12KB (63.24%.) I’ve tried optimizing automatically upon upload, doing it while inserting the media into my widget and even optimized before upload (with an online tool GTmetrix itself recommends,) but it all gives me the same result.

My ReSmush.it is set to compress at the default 92% and every other image file on my site that I’ve used it for is absolutely fine. For am idea of how the image is being used, it’s in the left sidebar of my homepage under the “Help Support Blind Luminations” heading. The image size is also 200×200, I’m not sure if that makes any difference at all.

Any help with this would be hugely appreciated because it’s driving me nuts! Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can offer.

    Hi Marc,

Thanks for using our plugin ??
Sometimes GTMetrix returns strange recommandations according to pictures.
In your case, it may be because the pictures is 200×200, but is displayed in 195x195px
Our first advice should be to resize your picture and make a test. If GTMetrix is proposing to reduce again your picture, try to slightly lower your picture quality level from 92 to 85.

However, GTMetrix provides some recommandation, but if it’s the only one, it won’t change radically your SEO and page rank. Keep focus on the main aspects of their report which will provide the main impact about SEO ??

    Cheers,
    Charles
