• Hi Everyone,

    I am having trouble getting my site speed up because of one image, when i test on gtmetrix i get the below image is the problem…..i use Smush and everything is re-scaled……kind of stuck here at to what to do.

    “The following images are resized in HTML or CSS. Serving scaled images could save 808.7KiB (79% reduction).

    https:// www .xxxxxxxx. com/wp-content/ xxxxxx.jpg is resized in HTML or CSS from 1600×889 to 718×399. Serving a scaled image could save 808.7KiB (79% reduction).”

  • @irishhombre GTmetrix is reporting that the resolution of image indicated is much larger than the dimensions at which it is being displayed. The image’s size is actually slightly larger than required for retina quality, so I say you can ignore GTmetrix’s report on this.

    However, you may want to check the file size and quality: 800kb+ for a 1600px JPG is pretty high: studies have been conducted that indicate most users cannot differentiate between 100% and 80% quality.

    Also note that GTmetrix uses Yslow, which hasn’t been updated since 2014; you’ll likely get better feedback by using PageSpeed Insights (directly) or WebPageTest.
