Hey folks! The GDPR compliance test tool Dr. DSGVO tells me that suricate-trading.de is non-compliant, firing GTM and GA without consent:

However, we have implemented Google Tag Manager using the Complianz wizard:

Plus, in Chrome Dev Tools > Application > Storage > Cookies, I see no sketchy cookies being fired before consent is given (at least none that I recognize):

To top off the weirdness, after I click “Accept” on the cookie banner, the above cookie list doesn’t change at all, i.e., no additional cookies seem to load.

Now I’m confused, we have an angry client on our hands and I don’t know what to tell them. Is this website really non-compliant, and if so, what did we do wrong? What am I missing?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Quick follow-up, our client also claims she never saw a cookie banner on her website. The cookie banner appears on my PC in Chrome and Firefox, but a partner of mine tested on Brave and never got any cookie banner. What might be going on there?

    Hi @mrmatteastwood,

The issue seems to be that you’ve indicated to Complianz that you are using GTM (Complianz -> Wizard -> Consent -> Statistics) but proceeded to enter an Analytics ID (G-****) in the Statistics – configuration step. If you set this to Yes, with Google Analytics, it should be blocked.

With regards to the banner not appearing in Brave, you most-likely have the option “Respect Do Not Track settings in browsers” enabled in the plugin, found under Wizard > General > Security & Consent.

Meaning that if the plugin detects a DNT/GPC signal from the browser (which browsers such as Brave likely enable by default), the plugin will automatically assume all your cookie preferences to be “denied”, and doesn’t display a banner as a result.

Disabling that option in Complianz, or disabling the “Send a Do Not Track” option in your browser, will resolve this behavior and cause the banner to appear.

    Kind regards, Jarno
