Hi there, as I type this I feel I must be missing something really obvious, so apologies in advance if this turns out to be a really stupid question.

I set up a Google Tag Manager account and installed the GTM plugin. When I viewed the page source to check that the tag was in the header, I see that it’s pulling up the wrong tracking ID for Google Analytics. (The Tracking ID is for an domain and account I have already deleted from GA). Where am I going wrong?!

Thanks to anyone who can help!
    Claire

    Hi Claire,

If you open the page source (not the content of the browser console but using the right click menu->View source command) and you see a Google Analytics tracking code, that is not added by GTM nor GTM4WP.

You might have added this code in theme options or using another plugin, perhaps your site dev added this directly into the template files.

Thanks Thomas, you were absolutely right – it was hiding in an insert header plugin that I’d completely forgotten about… *embarrassed laugh*. Thank you so much for your help.
