GTM instructions result in Event Action = undefined

  • Following the GTM integration instructions results in the Event Action in Analytics appearing as “undefined” for all events, and the Event Label being blank.

    The fix appears to be:
    – Add a new user-defined Variable
    – Select “Data Layer Variable”
    – Under “Data Layer Variable Name” enter “event_action”
    – Save the variable as “Event Action”
    – Add a new user-defined Variable
    – Select “Data Layer Variable”
    – Under “Data Layer Variable Name” enter “event_label”
    – Save the variable as “Event Label”
    – In the Tag, select {{Event Action}} under Action
    – In the Tag, select {{Event Label}} under Label
